Product Description

A Traditional American Pool Table With Real Cabinet-Making Detail

The SAM Madrid American Pool Table is built around clean cabinet lines and ornate turned legs, the kind of hand-shaped detail you don't get from a table that's just stained MDF with straight square posts underneath.

It's available in 6ft, 7ft and 8ft, so it works as well in a smaller family room as it does as the centrepiece of a dedicated games room. An optional matching dining table top is also available, so the Madrid can double as a pool dining table on the evenings you need the room to earn its keep.

The Owner's Insights on the Madrid

The Madrid is the table I point people towards when they want something that looks properly traditional rather than reproduction-traditional. The turned legs are genuinely shaped, not just a stained square post, and up close you can see the cabinet-making rather than a flat panel with a leg bolted on.

At 220 to 290kg depending on size, it's a substantial table, the same weight class as the rest of SAM's American range, so the usual access and floor-loading checks apply before you order, especially for the 8ft.

If you want something more geometric and period-specific, the Art Deco styling on the Oporto is worth a look instead. But if you want a pool table that reads as classic furniture first and games equipment second, the Madrid is the one I'd point you towards.

Let the Experts Help You Find Your Perfect Madrid

Choosing between 6ft, 7ft and 8ft comes down to your room, and the Madrid's cabinet finishes and cloth colours give you room to make it your own once you've settled on size.

If you're not sure which size will fit comfortably, or want help picking a finish, get in touch before you order.

Why You'll Love the Madrid

  • A traditional pool table that actually looks the part – The Madrid's turned hardwood legs and classic cabinet give it the character of a traditional billiards room table, making it as much a piece of furniture as somewhere to play.

  • Hardwood construction gives it real presence – The substantial hardwood build means the Madrid doesn't just rely on its finish for that premium feel. It has the solid construction you'd expect from a table designed to stay at the heart of your games room for years.

  • Built for proper games, not just good looks – Underneath the traditional styling is a precision slate playing surface, bringing SAM's focus on accurate, consistent play into a table designed specifically for the home.

  • 6ft, 7ft and 8ft options make it easier to get the proportions right – Choose the size that works for your available space, whether you're creating a compact family games room or giving the Madrid pride of place in a dedicated pool room.

  • Make the Madrid work with your interior – With a choice of cabinet finishes and cloth options, you can create a table that feels like it belongs in the room rather than something you've had to design the room around.

  • Optional dining table top – Fit the matching top over the playing surface and the Madrid becomes a genuine pool dining table, ready for dinner as easily as it is for a game.

Why You Should Consider a SAM Madrid Pool Table

The Madrid gives you something that's surprisingly difficult to find: traditional pool-table styling backed by a manufacturer that builds serious commercial and competition-standard tables.

SAM builds tables to withstand regular play, and that experience carries through to the Madrid. Beneath the turned legs and hardwood cabinet is a pool table designed with proper playability in mind, rather than a decorative piece that happens to have a playing surface.

That makes the Madrid particularly appealing if you don't want to choose between the two. You can have a table that complements a traditional games room, lounge or entertainment space, while still having the build and playing characteristics you want when the cues come out.

Choosing the Right SAM Madrid Pool Table Size: 6ft, 7ft or 8ft

Before you start thinking about wood finishes and cloth colours, get the size right first. The Madrid is available in 6ft, 7ft and 8ft versions, so there's a meaningful difference in both playing experience and the amount of room you'll need.

Choose the 6ft Madrid if space is tighter and you want to keep more usable floor area around the table. It can be a particularly sensible option for a family games room or multipurpose entertainment space.

Move up to the 7ft Madrid if you've got more room and want a larger playing surface without automatically committing to the biggest version. For many home games rooms, it offers an attractive middle ground.

Choose the 8ft Madrid when the pool table is going to be one of the main features of the room and you have the space to accommodate it properly. The larger playing surface gives you more distance to work with and more room for longer shots.

Remember, it's not enough for the table itself to physically fit. You also need comfortable cueing space around every side, so check your room dimensions before ordering.

Turn The Madrid Into A Pool Dining Table

Not every home has a room to spare for pool alone, which is where the Madrid's optional dining table top comes in.

SAM offers a matching top that sits securely over the playing surface, turning the Madrid into a practical pool dining table whenever the cues are put away.

That means the same turned-leg, traditional cabinet can host a dinner party one evening and a few frames of pool the next, so a room that might otherwise be given over entirely to a games table can genuinely do double duty as a dining pool table too.

If you'd like pricing and finish options for the dining table top, get in touch and we'll talk you through it.

Make the SAM Madrid Pool Table Your Own

The right finish can be the difference between a pool table that simply fits in the room and one that looks like it was always meant to be there.

The Madrid gives you a choice of cabinet and cloth options, so you can coordinate the table with the rest of your interior rather than compromising your room around it. SAM Leisure currently offers standard Balmoral cabinet veneers alongside three premium painted finishes, plus standard Atlas cloth and an optional premium Elite Premium cloth.

The combinations shown on the page don't have to be the end of the conversation. If you've got a particular look in mind, get in touch with us and we'll help you work through the available options to create a Madrid that suits your space.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does the SAM Madrid come in?

The Madrid is available in 6ft, 7ft and 8ft, all on this one product page. See the Room Size Requirements table above to help decide which size suits your space.

What makes the Madrid different from SAM's other American pool tables?

It's the traditional, turned-leg option in SAM's American pool range. The ornate turned legs and clean cabinet lines give it a classic, heritage look, distinct from the more geometric Art Deco styling on the Oporto.

How much does the Madrid weigh?

220kg for the 6ft, 240kg for the 7ft and 290kg for the 8ft. It's worth checking your access route and floor loading before you order, especially for the 8ft.

What slate does the Madrid use?

A 25mm one-piece slate bed, diamond-honed and levelled for a consistent roll.

What cabinet finishes are available?

Five standard wood stains (Cherry, Light Walnut, Dark Walnut, Natural Wood and Mahogany) plus three premium painted finishes (Black, Silver and White) for an additional cost.

What cloth options are available?

Standard Atlas American Speed Cloth in a range of colours, or a premium Elite Premium American Speed Cloth upgrade if you want a wider colour choice.

What's included with the Madrid?

Every Madrid comes with a free accessory pack: an Aramith ball set, four maple pool cues, a triangle, a table brush, chalk, a bridge stick, a cue rack and a rule book.

How much room do I need?

It depends on the table size and your cue length. See the Room Size Requirements table above for a full breakdown by size and cue length, or contact us and we'll talk it through.
