Product Description
The Owner's Insights on the Salem
The Salem is the Xray's quieter sibling. Same footprint, same K66 cushions, but finished in a rich walnut grain cabinet with curved legs that settles into a traditional games room rather than announcing itself the moment you walk in.
It sits on a three-piece 20mm natural slate bed, which is the standard across most of Dynamic's home range. Worth knowing if you're cross-shopping: the Xray runs a thicker 25mm slate for a little more money. Both play well, the extra thickness mainly buys you rigidity over a very long life rather than a different feel shot to shot. At 337kg the Salem is still a genuinely large table, so the room-size guidance below is worth reading properly before you order rather than after.
One thing worth knowing if you've only played English pool before. American tables like the Salem use bigger balls and pockets built for a different style of play, more power, longer position shots. If your household's used to a 6ft or 7ft English table, it's a real change of game, not just a bigger version of the same one.
Why You'll Love the Salem
- A three-piece 20mm natural slate bed – built for a true, consistent roll rather than the single-slab or MDF shortcuts on cheaper tables.
- Rich walnut grain cabinet with curved legs – a traditional finish that suits a period room as easily as a modern games room.
- A boxed Aramith accessory pack worth over £200, included – four cues, an Aramith ball set, bridge, six-cue rack and a proper care kit, all in the price.
- K66 cushion rubber and black leather pockets – precise rebound and a clean, finished look at every pocket.
- Free delivery and professional installation – your table arrives assembled, levelled and ready to play.
Why You Should Consider a Dynamic Pool Table
Dynamic Billiards has built pool tables in Europe for more than 20 years, and the Salem carries the same K66 cushion rubber and natural slate construction found across the range they supply for tournament play. You're getting proven components in a cabinet built for a home, at a price a club supplier wouldn't offer.
American vs English Pool Table: Why the Dynamic Salem Plays Differently
If every table you've played on before is a 6ft or 7ft English table, the Salem will feel like a different sport at first. American pool uses larger, heavier balls and wider pockets, and the extra table length changes how much power and positional control a shot actually needs. It rewards a more deliberate game, longer position play, fewer lucky in-offs, rather than the tighter, faster pace English pool is built around. Neither is better, but it's worth knowing before you order if your household's only ever played the English game, since it does change how the table gets used.
The Salem comes finished in walnut grain with five club cloth colours included, or you can upgrade to Simonis 760 or 860 tournament cloth in a wider range of colours. If you're weighing it up against the Xray, or want to talk through cloth options before you order, get in touch and we'll help you land on the right one.

Room Size Requirements by Cue Length
For the best playing experience, allow enough space to use a full-length cue comfortably from every side of the table. Recommended room dimensions by cue length:
| Table | 48″ cue | 52″ cue | 57″ cue |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8ft | 15'8″ × 12'0″ | 16'4″ × 12'8″ | 17'2″ × 13'6″ |
The Salem's footprint matches our other 8ft American tables, so if you've already measured up for one, these numbers apply here too. Dynamic's own recommendation is 5.26m x 4.13m. Send us your room dimensions before you order and we'll confirm honestly whether it fits.
Delivery Day, Start to Finish
Nothing about the Salem arrives ready to play, and that's deliberate. Six cartons come off the vehicle: the walnut cabinet panels and curved legs, the cushioned rails, three sections of 20mm slate weighing 225kg between them, and a box of fittings. Our team carries it in piece by piece, builds the frame where the table will live, beds and levels the three slates against each other, then stretches and staples your chosen club cloth over the top. That last part is the bit worth paying someone to do properly, because a cloth fitted with a wrinkle in it will bother you every single frame.
Then the accessory box gets opened, and this is where the Salem does better than most tables at the money. It's a boxed Aramith pack worth over £200, included rather than sold on afterwards: a full Aramith 2¼″ American ball set, four two-piece cues, a two-piece bridge stick with a brass bridge head, a wooden six-cue wall rack, a wooden triangle, a bottle of Aramith ball cleaner with a microfibre cloth, a cue repair kit, four Aramith chalks, a 10½″ table brush and the official rule book. Four cues rather than two matters more than it sounds, because doubles is how most people actually end up using an 8ft table.
Which leaves very little to buy on top. If you want to go further, a tournament-grade ball set is the upgrade that changes the game most, and it's in the configurator above.
