The Owner's Insights on the Heemskerk TacTic Football Table

The TacTic is Heemskerk's heavy-duty professional football table, and it's the one I'd choose for a busy office, a company canteen, a pub or a club. It plays like a competition table but it's built to be hammered every day for years.

It's heavy and solid. The cabinet uses 25mm plywood side panels, the base is 90 x 90mm metal with rubber levelling feet, and the whole table weighs 73kg, so it doesn't move during a heated game. The rods are 18mm high-carbon steel with a rust-resistant finish, and the players are cast onto them so they're virtually unbreakable.

There are two versions. The TacTic is the open-top table. The High TacTic Cover is the same heavy-duty table with a sealed toughened glass top and a payment system, so you can charge per game in a pub, arcade or hotel, or set it to play free.

TacTic or High TacTic Cover?

• TacTic: the open-top professional table, 73kg. Ideal for offices, canteens, clubs and home games rooms.
• High TacTic Cover: the same table with a sealed tempered glass top, 98kg. Balls can't be taken, drinks can't get into the table, dust stays out and the game is quieter. It comes with your choice of payment system: no payment system, coin or token, contactless card and phone payments (NFC) or an arcade ticket system. Built for pubs, hotels, arcades, schools and public spaces.

Continuous or Telescopic Rods?

You choose the rods when you order, at no extra cost. Continuous rods run in one piece through the table and come out on the far side when pushed. They're stiffer, with no play, so you get more control, more speed and the classic feel of a competition table. Telescopic rods are two pieces that slide into each other, so a rod never sticks out of the opposite side. That's the safer choice where young children play, and it also needs less space at the sides of the table.

As a simple rule: continuous rods for offices, canteens, clubs and adult players, telescopic rods for schools, after-school clubs and family homes with young children.

Great for the Office

The solid plywood cabinet sounds duller than a thin open cabinet, and the rubber feet stop the noise travelling into the floor. If the table is next to a walkway or desks, telescopic rods mean nobody walks into a rod end.

Easy to Look After

Keep the rods clean and dry, swap the balls when they wear smooth and re-level the table now and then. Spare players, bearings and balls stay available for years after you buy.
